UNFPA/ NEPAL. RAPID NEEDS ASSESSMENT (RNA) STUDY OF DELIVERING ESSENTIAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE
The RNA was commissioned to assess the essential reproductive health care need for Women, Men, and Adolescents in the Mid and Far Western Districts of Nepal. The study comprised of visits to select districts in the mid and far western region’s districts of Nepal. The study provided the inputs towards providing information and a basis for formulating relevant programs and projects to address the RH needs of the regions.

UNICEF/ NEPAL. BASELINE/ SOCIO-BEHAVIOURAL STUDY FOR AVIAN FLU
Due to a general lack of information on avian influenza and related subjects in Nepal, formative research was carried out to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices that have both positive and negative impacts on the behaviors of the communities at risk. In addition to studying individual behaviors, information on factors that affect individual behavior was also looked into during the study. The results of this formative research acted as the inputs in formulating the objectives, planning effective communication strategies, designing appropriate messages/materials, and selecting media channels.

CARE NEPAL. END LINE SURVEY OF CHILD SURVIVAL PROJECT (CS XIX)
Solutions Consultant conducted end line survey of CS Project of Care Nepal implemented in 4 far-western region districts of Nepal, namely, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Bajhang, and Doti. The main objective of end line study was to estimate the present levels of maternal and child indicators at household and community levels and to compare the progress against the baseline result carried out by the project.

UNICEF/ NEPAL. BASELINE SURVEY FOR HOUSEHOLD-BASED DRINKING WATER TREATMENT
Solutions Consultant conducted the baseline study for household-based drinking water treatment methods. The research was conducted in the four districts of Panchthar, Parsa, Kapilbasthu, and Dang. The primary purpose of the research was to provide the client with insights needed to design an effective intervention program including a communication strategy to promote the various options for the treatment of drinking water in households, with a focus on the preferred choice as an effective means to prevent diarrhea. The research included product trials among the selected households for assessing the preferred choice of household-based drinking water treatment.

AED/ ENPHO. SCHOOL POU DRINKING WATER TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS RESEARCH
The general objective of the study was to conduct research on school-level POU drinking water treatment options and identify the most suitable ones for schools under the UNICEF/USAID – POU Drinking Water Treatment Project. This study was to provide programming guidance for scale-up to other schools in Nepal.

NEPAL FAMILY HEALTH PROGRAM. FOCUSED ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY ON ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS (ARI)
Solutions Consultant conducted a focused ethnographic study on ARI in 4 districts of Nepal, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Sunsari, and Morang. The ethnographic study covered the five caste/ethnic groups: Brahmin/Chhetri, Musahar, Tharu, Tamang, and Muslim in the abovementioned districts. The main purpose of the study was to explore the management of ARI and the recognition and interpretation of ARI signs and symptoms in a holistic and descriptive manner in five communities and the existing health care system in these communities. Health-seeking practices and prevailing perception in the community regarding the management of ARI and care providers was also studied. The traditional care-seeking practices existing in the community were explored. In addition, the study also dealt with the perception of the community to access health care providers keeping in mind the importance of providers in delivering integrated services to reduce childhood morbidity and mortality at the community level. SOALTEE GROUP (P.) LTD (KAVRE PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP PILOT). BASELINE SURVEY (KAP)
Solutions Consultant conducted a KAP survey for Soaltee Group (P.) Ltd. for Kavre Public Private Partnership Program on health, education, and irrigation sectors. The client was interested in establishing a private sector presence in the sectors of Education, Health, and Irrigation in Nepal, previously carried out by government or semi-government agencies at a subsidized rate. The research was conducted in 14 VDCs of Kavre District, with over 700 respondents in 7 days. The survey identified the market drivers and service gaps. It also was able to identify local and cultural attitudes and supply patterns. The client was able to focus on key issues to be included in their business planning.

POPULATION SERVICES INTERNATIONAL, NEPAL (PSI/NEPAL). BASELINE SURVEY FOR SEXUAL BEHAVIOR AMONG YOUTH
Solutions Consultant conducted research for Population Service International/ Nepal for a study on sexual behavior among youth in Nepal. The research was conducted among people in the age group of 15-24 years old. The data were collected from Kathmandu Valley, Hilly districts, and Terai districts – Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dolkha, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Morang, Sunsari, Parsa, and Rupandehi. The research used individual interviews as the technique to collect data and information. The research was based on responses from 4,087 respondents across the aforementioned districts. The study time involved a total of 14 days from commissioning of research to top-line data presentation.

Solutions Consultant-Research Works, conducted in conjunction with the above-mentioned KAP survey for Soaltee Group carried out a need assessment for Kavre Public Private Partnership Program on the health, education, and irrigation sectors. The research was conducted in 14 VDCs of Kavre District, with residents of these villages. The research goal was to identify the gaps in the current service delivery mechanism for health, education, and irrigation. The current requirements and future requirements were identified for validating the actual need for a public-private partnership to deliver services in the above-mentioned sectors.
